On today’s show, Kimberly and Tony talk about the best way to get water into your body and do we truly need 8 glasses a day or is that a myth? In keeping with Kimberly’s mantra, “Always go back to nature,” they discuss key ways you can absorb the most water and how the amount of water we need varies from person to person. They hit talking points on how things like climate, level of activity, and also how diet plays a role in how much water you need.

Next, Kimberly interviews Kip Andersen, the amazing man behind the groundbreaking feature length, environmental documentary, Cowspiracy. Kimberly and Kip talk about many of the very important topics covered in the film which have such a big impact on our planet. They go into details on animal agriculture, grass fed beef, sustainable fishing, the destruction of the rainforest and more. They discuss how this amazing documentary reveals what we all need to be aware of, what's happening every single day and why people are not talking about it. Kip shares his expert knowledge on ways we can truly help the environment as well as educate ourselves and the people around us. There is hope for the planet, there is hope for everybody and we can work together to make the world a healthier and more beautiful place.

About Kip Andersen, Cowspiracy

Kip Andersen’s environmental awakening came as a result of An Inconvenient Truth. After seeing the film, he began to recycle religiously, turn off lights constantly, shower infrequently, and ride a bike instead of driving. Andersen believed he was doing everything he could to help the planet by following the guidelines of national and international environmental organizations, but his life took a different direction when he found out animal agriculture is the leading cause of environmental destruction.

He is the founder of AUM Films and Media, a 501c3 non-profit focused on creating films and media that promote thrivability, compassion, and harmony for all life. He is also an entrepreneur, as well as a certified Jivamukti and Kundalini yoga teacher. He is a graduate of Cal Poly San Luis Obispo school of business and has called San Francisco home for more than a decade.

Detoxy+

http://shop.kimberlysnyder.com/products/detoxy

Detoxy+ is a nutritional supplement that helps cleanse your digestive and elimination organs of wastes and toxins in a gentle, yet effective way—without any of the drawbacks of typical laxatives or fiber supplements.

Detoxy+ is created by adding an oxygen molecule to magnesium—through the non-toxic process called ozonation—forming a compound called magnesium oxide. When you take the capsule, it dissolves and releases monatomic, or nascent, oxygen over a six to twelve hour period or more, throughout the entire digestive system.

The magnesium acts as a transporter of the oxygen throughout the entire body and has the gentle effect of loosening toxins and acidic waste in your colon, helping transport them out of the body via elimination. Oxygen, delivered in this way, supports the growth of friendly bacteria, which is essential for proper digestive and intestinal health.

Detoxy+ is safe for regular use and is non habit-forming. It can be helpful for anyone looking to increase their elimination and regularity, increase detoxification, reduce bloating or gas, and just feel lighter and healthier overall.

I am the only Vegan in my family so it’s the only dish I can eat and I feel a little left out as everyone else fills their plates with traditional Thanksgiving Day dishes. Do you have any suggestions on dealing with these situations and what I should say to my family who doesn’t understand my lifestyle?

Being around my family during the holidays really stresses me out and I tend to overeat and really binge on sweets to cope! What are some foods I can eat to satisfy my sweet cravings and prevent me from binging on chocolate?

Charylnn Avery Interview:

  • "Typically, essential oils are 75 to 100 times stronger than dried herbs. What that means is, they need to be diluted which is not only beneficial to the body because we don't need a lot to have the benefit but it benefits our wallet as well. It doesn't have to be an expensive practice. When I talk about wearing oils, I'm talking about dilution. I'll make a simple blend in the morning. For me, a very simple facial serum is argan oil with six drops of neroli. I put in six drops to about a half an ounce. That's a 2% dilution. For healthy adults that's about a minimal amount that you would see benefit from in skin care. Six drops of neroli into a half an ounce or argan oil, which is a very nice companion for my skin type. Then, that's my serum. It smells nice so I'm wearing it like a perfume but then, it's also giving me my that healthy glow that I'm looking for in the morning."

https://www.auracacia.com/auracacia/acindex.html

https://www.auracacia.com/auracacia/aclearn/eo_neroli.html

  • "I've also read that there's research that says sniffing peppermint can help reduce food cravings. It's not necessarily true for each and every one of us because we don't all respond the same way, but many folks find that with peppermint oil and grapefruit oil, oregano, basil, some of the foods or the oils that come from the herbs that we cook with, when we smell them, they tend to have that effect on appetite. It's a good support moving into the holiday season when we typically overindulge.

To use this on the go just add about ten drops of peppermint oil to an ounce of water in a little mixture bottle and you shake it up each time before you spray it but then you spray it around. You want to breathe it in before meal times or before you go to a party and if you are hitting an event or a gathering that is a holiday thing, that mint has a holiday aroma association as well so you can contribute a little fresh aroma space you're in.

Grapefruit and peppermint is my favorite combo to get ahead of food cravings!

Citrus oils tend to make us feel happy, so they tend to boost the mood but bergamot, particularly, had some research behind it with its effect on feeling calm without feeling sleepy and it promotes that overall sense of calm."

http://www.nytimes.com/2009/06/18/fashion/18skin.html?_r=1

https://www.auracacia.com/auracacia/aclearn/rejuvenation-mists.html

  • "Having a diffuser is a great way to introduce essential oils into any aired space and some of them are very, very simple, they're little fan diffusers that sit on desks or plug-in diffusers and then, now, popular vaporizers or large diffusers are pretty common place. I like the old kind of tried and true method of you can take sea salts in a container and add essential oils and let it sit on your desk and that's a small, personal diffusion, very easy to do because the salt will contain the essential oil in it and it doesn't really interact with it and get in the way of the aroma."

https://www.auracacia.com/auracacia/aclearn/make-your-own-reed-diffuser.php

  • "Essential oils for sleep? Some of the oils that do really well with this, especially at night and have that deep relaxation effect, ylang-ylang which is a heavy floral. I speak about this pretty regularly this time of the year. It seems like people really want sleep support. Ylang-ylang, if it's too potent, you can pair it with something lighter like a citrus oil to lift that heavy floral aroma but it does very well at bedtime. Patchouli is another one that is known to help us with relaxation and it's nice, earthy, deep aroma. Again, it can be polarizing so pairing it with a citrus oil. It's very relaxing. I, for many years, have called it the man's alternative to lavender because men respond well with these earthier aromas. It has that same effect that lavender does but it's not a floral, kind of girly smell that guys can be turned away by. It's relaxing, it's good for sleep."

https://www.auracacia.com/auracacia/aclearn/essential-oils-to-inspire-mindfulness.php

  • "What essential oils help with menstrual cramps? Yes, we do. I think so. We can use essential oils in a lot of different ways that time of the month in our airspace to help, some the oils that help us with emotional balance, that's a great way. Topically, if you look at, again, some already created products for massage and muscle care, where the oils that are used are the ones that tend to soothe us and can help us. I use my own remedy. One of my favorite combinations, geranium and jasmine oil which are both great emotionally and topically during that time of the month."

  • Angie from Madrid, Spain - I would like to know if it’s okay to add spirulina or chlorella to the Glowing Green Smoothie. What about maca or matcha powder?
  • Avril in Scottsdale, Arizona - I know you’re an advocate of doing a home yoga practice. I have a very busy schedule, so what is the best way for me to get started and stay motivated?
  • Karen from Toronto, Ontario - I’m feeling conflicted. I combine my meals properly and have been eating this way for many years. But lately I have been finding recipes that are not properly combined but sound super delicious. I know they are healthy and made of whole foods, and I am so tempted to try these recipes. But I’m not sure I can truly let myself eat these recipes without feeling guilt and beating myself up mentally. I’m so undecided. What do you think Kimberly?
  • Jamie from Los Angeles - Is eating processed sugar the same as eating sugar from fruit?
